The operators Reddit actually supports
Reddit Help documents eight field operators — author:, subreddit:, flair:, title:, selftext:, self:true, site: and url: — with no space after the colon and quotes around multi-word values. AND, OR and NOT are case-sensitive, and parentheses change what they bind to. The catch most people hit: a post search only needs some of your words to match. Quotes and title: are how you force it.
Why the Google version exists
Reddit has no date operator — only “past week” style filters — and its comment search is limited. Google indexes Reddit thoroughly and its custom date range works on any query, so site:reddit.com/r/SaaS "churn" between two dates is often the faster route. - How do I search Reddit by date?
- Reddit's own search has no date operator — only a time filter (past hour, day, week, month, year). For a real range, run the Google version this tool builds: site:reddit.com plus your terms, with Google's custom date range. That is the only reliable way to find posts between two specific dates without an archive tool.
- How do I search one user's posts or comments?
- Use author:username. It works best inside a specific community: open the subreddit, search author:username there, and switch to the Comments tab. Site-wide comment search by author is unreliable on Reddit, which is why third-party archive tools exist for it.
- Why does Reddit search return posts that do not contain my words?
- Because post search only needs some of your words to match unless you use exact syntax. Put must-have words in quotes as an exact phrase, join terms with AND, or use title: to force a match in the title. Comment and user searches require all terms, so they behave more strictly.
- Does this tool search Reddit for me?
