What r/VideoEditing's rules say about promotion

5 of 15 published rules mention promotion, advertising or spam. Quoted from the community's own rules page, not summarised.

  1. No advertising your video-related services

    rule 6 of 15

The purpose of the subreddit is to provide advice and help for hobbyist editors. If you are trying to find new clients /r/forhire may be a more appropriate place for such posts. Free isn't okay either. If you want to do free work, we recommend that you find someone local (friends, non profit, a hobby film group) who needs help
  2. No use of URL shorteners

    rule 7 of 15

URL shorteners are helpful in character-limited social media settings, but with Reddit's 10,000 character limit and [ability to obscure a link within markdown](https://www.reddit.com/wiki/commenting), they are unnecessary and can be used to obscure where someone is being directed to, which may be abused to direct people to unsafe websites, or to generate revenue by way of an advertising landing page (which we view as spam). An exception to this rule will be made for Approved Submitters.
  3. No advertising of spammy or license-abusive software

    rule 8 of 15

This applies to software known to abuse either existing closed-source licenses or known to be abusing open source licenses. Brorsoft is a prime example of a company stealing Open Source video processing code and reselling it without permission.
  4. No promoting your YouTube channel

    rule 12 of 15

This is not a subreddit for people to promote their YouTube channel, or otherwise drive traffic to their channel in order to inflate their viewership/subscription numbers. People posting links to their own YouTube channels is allowed for critiquing, sharing of content for others to use, or on [Tutorial] Tuesday. However posting links for the sole purpose of promoting your YouTube channel is not allowed, and repeated violation can result in a ban.

Removal reason shown to posters: Promoting/driving traffic to their YouTube Channel

  5. Generally, self promotion is frowned upon.

    rule 13 of 15

Generally, self promotion is frowned upon. Especially if you're not contributing at a 10:1 rediquette ratio.

How active is r/VideoEditing?

We don't have a reliable posting-rate sample for r/VideoEditing yet. Subscriber count alone is a poor guide to whether a community is active, so treat this one as unverified until the next sample lands.

When was r/VideoEditing created?

The first, “No advertising your video-related services”, says: The purpose of the subreddit is to provide advice and help for hobbyist editors. If you want to do… Read the full rule text on this page and the community's rules page before posting — moderator enforcement is the thing that actually decides.

How do I monitor r/VideoEditing for mentions?

Hit Watch on this page. Prowlo starts crawling r/VideoEditing into your Dataset — every new post indexed and embedded, searchable semantically, queryable by your AI agent over MCP, and able to trigger keyword alerts in Slack. Prowlo is read-only; it never posts on your behalf.

Can my AI agent read r/VideoEditing's stats?

Yes. Everything on this page is one MCP tool call away: catalog_get_subreddit returns r/VideoEditing's members, growth, promo tolerance and similar communities as typed JSON — free, no credits. Connect your agent to api.prowlo.com/mcp and it can vet the community and start watching it in the same conversation.
