r/textfriends
We're shut down right now in protest of Reddit's announced API changes, which will make moderation nearly impossible and kill 3rd party apps. For a great explanation of what's going on, see r/techsupport's wiki: https://rtech.support/docs/meta/blackout.html

Welcome! Everything is not fine. Reddit is introducing new API pricing that will drive all third party clients out of business. If you use RES (r/enhancement) you may be affected, too: https://redd.it/141hyv3 Even the author of r/toolbox is worried: “these API changes are part of a downward spiral… Reddit has gone from a platform where the code was open… to one where a once vibrant third party developer community has been dealt blow after blow.” https://redd.it/141locs

r/textfriends — frequently asked
How many members does r/textfriends have?
r/textfriends has 180,935 members as of our most recent crawl on Aug 28. Prowlo re-checks tracked communities on a rolling schedule, so this figure moves rather than sitting frozen at whatever it was when a scraper last ran.
Is r/textfriends growing?
We don't have 30 days of snapshot history for r/textfriends yet, so we're not going to invent a growth number. We've been tracking it since Aug 28; the chart fills in as history accumulates.
How active is r/textfriends?
We don't have a reliable posting-rate sample for r/textfriends yet. Subscriber count alone is a poor guide to whether a community is active, so treat this one as unverified until the next sample lands.
Can I promote my product in r/textfriends?
We don't have a promo-tolerance read for r/textfriends yet. Default to the safe approach: read the sidebar rules, contribute in threads where you gain nothing, and mention your product only when it is the honest answer to someone's question.
How do I monitor r/textfriends for mentions?
Hit Watch on this page. Prowlo starts crawling r/textfriends into your Dataset — every new post indexed and embedded, searchable semantically, queryable by your AI agent over MCP, and able to trigger keyword alerts in Slack. Prowlo is read-only; it never posts on your behalf.
Can my AI agent read r/textfriends's stats?
Yes. Everything on this page is one MCP tool call away: catalog_get_subreddit returns r/textfriends's members, growth, promo tolerance and similar communities as typed JSON — free, no credits. Connect your agent to api.prowlo.com/mcp and it can vet the community and start watching it in the same conversation.
