What r/shopifyDev's rules say about promotion
6 of 14 published rules mention promotion, advertising or spam. Quoted from the community's own rules page, not summarised.
No Underpriced Job Offers
rule 3 of 14
Offering or soliciting development work for unreasonably low compensation (e.g., $200 for a full Shopify build) is strictly prohibited. The minimum acceptable rate is $30/hour. Both the person posting such offers and any developer showing interest in them will be banned without warning. This subreddit values skilled work , we will not support a race to the bottom.
Partnerships Allowed Only with Proof or Co-Dev Intent
rule 4 of 14
Partnership requests are only allowed if they are either: From developers looking to co-develop, or From individuals with a public track record of product success who are willing to support the developer’s vision — not just promote their own ideas.
No Spam or Self-Promotion
rule 5 of 14
Self-promotion, affiliate links, or promotional content is not allowed. This includes posting links to your store, services, groups, blogs or products without prior approval. Only members verified by us are allowed to post such content.
No Low-Quality Content
rule 7 of 14
Posts must provide value to the community. Avoid generic questions like “How do I start dropshipping?” or posts that lack effort (e.g., "What is the best product to sell?"). Instead, ask specific questions or share detailed insights. Questions asking about app comparison and favourite apps aren't allowed
No Marketplace Listings
rule 9 of 14
This is not a place to sell or advertise your dropshipping products, services, or courses. Posts that solicit sales or customers will be removed.
No Fake Solicitation or Bait-and-Switch
rule 13 of 14
Requesting services, tools, or help must be done in good faith. If you inquire about a service and receive relevant details, failing to engage or redirecting the conversation to promote a different product, service, or partnership is considered bad-faith solicitation. This includes ghosting, information-farming, or bait-and-switch behavior.
