How It Works
Prowlo watches Reddit for conversations where people are looking for products like yours, then tells you which ones are worth replying to and how safe it is to engage. Here's what happens behind the scenes.
The Pipeline
Every opportunity in your feed has been through five steps:
- Discovery — we find new posts in subreddits relevant to your industry
- Quick filter — we skip posts that are obviously not a fit
- Deep analysis — AI analyzes intent, relevance, and risk
- Scoring — we surface a Relevance % (how well the post fits your product profile) and a Survival % (how likely the thread is to stay up). Internal signals like Opportunity level are available via the info icon on each card.
- Learning — we track what happens after you engage to get smarter over time
Discovery
Prowlo continuously monitors subreddits relevant to your industry, picking up new posts as they appear along with useful context like title, body, upvotes, comment count, and how old the post is.
New posts start with a status of NEW and get queued for analysis.
Quick Filter
Not every post needs deep analysis. We run a fast check to filter out the noise:
- Does it contain relevant keywords like "recommend", "looking for", "alternative"?
- Is it less than 48 hours old?
- Does it have fewer than 20 comments?
- Does it look like a question?
Posts that pass move on to deep analysis. The rest are skipped and won't clutter your feed.
Deep Analysis
This is where the real work happens. Each post goes through several layers of analysis.
Intent Classification
We figure out what the author is actually trying to do:
We detect intent using a mix of pattern matching (catching phrases like "shameless plug", "just launched") and AI that compares the post against reference examples.
Signal Detection
We compute several signals for each post:
Product Match Score
If you've set up a Product Profile, each post also gets a match percentage:
This measures how well the post's topic lines up with what your product does. Higher scores mean the post is a more natural fit for your offering.
Scoring
All the signals above get combined into two simple scores.
Opportunity Score
"Is this post worth replying to?"
Posts flagged as SELLING or STEALTH AD are automatically downgraded by one tier.
Risk Score
"Could replying here backfire?"
When we don't have enough data about a subreddit yet, we play it safe and bump risk up by one level.
Guidance
For each scored post, you also get:
- Tips — specific advice for how to approach the conversation
- Warnings — things to avoid in this community
- Suggested approach — a recommended strategy
- Engagement window — how long the opportunity is likely to stay viable
Learning
After you engage through Prowlo, we monitor your reply for about 24 hours:
- Did it survive? Was it removed by moderators?
- How did it do? Upvotes, replies, engagement
These results feed back into our understanding of each subreddit. Over time, this makes risk scores and guidance more accurate — the more you use Prowlo, the smarter it gets for your specific product and communities.
How Often Things Update
The pipeline runs continuously. New posts are discovered and scored every few hours, and your Opportunities feed refreshes every minute.
Subreddit profiles also improve over time as we collect more data — both from passive monitoring and from your engagement outcomes. This means the scores you see today will be even more accurate tomorrow.
