Product Profile Guide

Your product profile is the foundation of Prowlo's matching system. It tells the AI what you offer, who it's for, and how to talk about it. A well-filled profile directly improves the relevance scores and AI-generated replies you receive.

Why It Matters

Without a product profile, Prowlo can only use general signals (intent, freshness, risk) to rank opportunities. With a profile, you unlock:

  • Relevance scores — each post gets a percentage match (e.g., 87% match) showing how closely it aligns with your product
  • Better AI replies — generated responses reference your actual features and value propositions
  • Smarter sortingBest Match sort puts the most relevant opportunities first
  • Personalized AI Reviews — full insights with talking points, response angles, and product-specific warnings

Step-by-Step Setup

1

Basics

  • Product/Service Name — the name your customers know
  • Website URL — your products homepage
  • One-liner — your elevator pitch in one sentence (keep it under 120 characters for best results)

Shortcut

Enter your website URL and click Auto-fill from website. Prowlo will scrape your site and pre-fill most fields. Review and refine the results.

2

What It Does

  • Detailed Description — describe what your product does in a few paragraphs. Be specific about functionality, not marketing fluff. The AI uses this to understand your products capabilities.
  • Key Features — add up to 10 key features as tags. These help the matching engine identify posts that mention specific capabilities.
3

Who It's For & Why

  • Target Audience — describe your ideal customer. Include roles, company sizes, industries. Example: Small SaaS founders who need to find leads on Reddit without spending hours scrolling.
  • Problems It Solves — what pain points does your product address? Be concrete. Example: Manually searching Reddit for sales opportunities is time-consuming and easy to miss the best posts.
  • Use Cases — specific scenarios where your product shines. Example: A B2B startup founder wants to find people on Reddit asking for recommendations in their niche.
4

Competitive Edge

  • Differentiators — what makes you unique compared to alternatives
  • Competitor Comparisons — add up to 10 competitors with:
    • Their name
    • What they do
    • How you differ

This helps the AI craft replies that naturally position your product without being pushy.

5

Personal Story

  • Your Story — why did you build this? Whats your background? Personal anecdotes make replies more authentic and relatable on Reddit.
6

Tone & Voice

Select one or more tone presets that match how you want replies to sound:

  • Casual, Professional, Technical, Friendly, Authoritative, Humorous, Educational, Empathetic

You can also add Custom Voice Notes for nuances like always mention we have a free tier or never compare us directly to Competitor X.

7

Reply Guidelines

  • Style Rules — how replies should be structured (defaults to casual Reddit-style writing)
  • Content Rules — what to include or avoid (defaults to a help-first approach)

Best Practices

Be specific, not generic. We help businesses grow tells the AI nothing. We monitor Reddit for B2B SaaS discussions and surface high-intent buying signals gives it something to work with.

Include the problems, not just the solution. The AI needs to understand what pain looks like so it can recognize it in Reddit posts.

Update regularly. When you add features or change positioning, update your profile. Stale profiles lead to stale matches.

Fill in competitor comparisons. These help the AI respond naturally when someone mentions a competitor in a Reddit thread — which happens often.

Use the auto-fill as a starting point. Its good at pulling basic info from your website, but always review and add the nuances it misses (especially problems solved and personal story).

Common Mistakes

  • Too vagueWere an all-in-one platform doesnt help matching
  • Too long — the AI works best with concise, clear descriptions
  • Missing target audience — without knowing who your customer is, relevance scoring suffers
  • No personal story — Reddit values authenticity. Replies mentioning I built this because... perform much better than generic product pitches
  • Never updating — if your product evolves but your profile doesnt, matches will drift

How It Affects Your Feed

Once your profile is saved, Prowlo re-scores all existing opportunities against it. Within a few minutes, youll see:

  • Relevance percentage badges on each opportunity card
  • The Best Match sort option becomes available
  • AI-generated replies reference your actual product details
  • The AI Review feature provides product-specific talking points
