FAQ

Answers to commonly asked questions about Prowlo.

General

How does my Dataset get populated?

You create Watchers for the subreddits and sources you care about. Prowlo crawls only your watched sources and indexes the matching posts into your Dataset — the searchable, vector-indexed corpus that is your account's asset. With no Watchers, Prowlo makes zero requests.

How fresh is the data?

Watched communities are re-crawled on a tier-bounded cadence — roughly hourly for active ones. New posts appear in your Dataset shortly after they're crawled.

Does Prowlo post to Reddit?

No. Prowlo is read-only — it never posts, comments, or votes. It only reads public data and serves it back to you.

Which sources are supported?

Reddit (communities, users, and all-of-Reddit keyword searches), Hacker News, Mastodon, RSS feeds, and X (Twitter). Each Watcher tracks exactly one channel — create one Watcher per channel you want to follow. See Watchers.

How do I access my data?

Three ways: the dashboard, the MCP server for AI tools (see MCP integration), and the REST API. Alerts and webhooks can also push new matches to you as they appear.

Search & keywords

What's the difference between keyword and semantic search?

Keyword search is an exact, case-insensitive match on a post's title and body. Semantic search uses embeddings to find records by meaning — surfacing relevant discussions even when they don't contain your exact terms.

How does keyword tracking work?

Two ways. On the Keyword Monitor page, each keyword searches all of Reddit for one query — checked about daily, 3 on the trial and 20 on the paid plan. Keyword tagging rules (unlimited) tag matching records from your watched communities as they're ingested. Manage both from the dashboard, or, if you've connected an AI tool over MCP, by just asking (e.g. "track 'CRM alternative' across all of Reddit"). See Keyword Monitor and Intake filters & tagging rules.

What are Alerts and Trends?

Alerts are saved queries over your Dataset that fire — to Slack or a webhook — whenever a new matching record appears. Trends compute time-series counts over your Dataset so you can see how a topic moves over time.

Account & Billing

Can I have multiple team members?

Yes. Invite teammates from your Team settings. Each member gets their own login and shares your organization's data and settings.

What are the usage limits?

The trial includes 5 Watchers, 3 keywords, and 5 Alerts; the $19/mo plan includes 25 Watchers, 20 keywords, and 10 Alerts + Trends. The full table is on Plans & limits; your current usage is on the billing page.

How do I contact support?

Use the contact form on the Prowlo website or reach out through the channels listed in your account settings.
